WISD Celebrates Youngest Graduates
In partnership with H-E-B, Waller ISD (WISD) celebrated the graduation of its Read 3 participants. Read 3 is a program developed by H-E-B for 3-4 year old children to promote early literacy and prepare them for school. They spent six weeks attending 2-hour classes every Friday alongside their parents/caregivers. During the classes, children participated in crafts and activities to encourage reading, while adults learned about healthy eating and how to facilitate learning at home. For one session, families were invited to tour the H-E-B Fairfield store and took part in a scavenger hunt looking for items in the store. After every class, students received two new books to take home. All books and materials for the program were provided by H-E-B. To help teach the classes, WISD enlisted the help of Prairie View A&M students who are working toward receiving an education degree. At the end of the six-week program, a small graduation ceremony was held where children were given a certificate, tshirt, backpack with school supplies, and an H-E-B gift card. Thank you to H-E-B Fairfield Market and Prairie View A&M for supporting future Waller Bulldogs!
