Campus Visitor Procedures
Standard Visitor Procedures
Safety Procedures
Report Suspicious or Concerning Behaviors HERE.
Parents and Guardians
Parents are always welcome at Waller ISD. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance. All visitors, including parents and law enforcement, are required to report to the single point of entry to sign in. All visitors must present a current driver’s license or state ID in exchange for a visitor’s pass. WISD schools utilize the RAPTOR Visitor sign-in system which works with the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors must present a state issued ID to be scanned on every visit.
School Employees
School employees must present their badge upon entering a building and do not have to be escorted by school personnel while on campus.
Current Students
Current students who are visitors participating as part of a cooperative secondary/elementary school function, must present a school ID but are not required to be scanned for Raptor.
Vendors, Contractors, Student Teachers, and Student Observers
All vendors and/or contractors who have been authorized to perform services on Waller ISD (District) property or on behalf of the District must follow the Contracted Services Procedures (available upon request). Vendors/contractors are not employees of the District, but they do have a contractual agreement that has been approved by the District’s Board of Trustees and/or signed by a member of the District’s senior leadership (Cabinet). These procedures also apply to student teachers and student observers.
For any vendor/contractor that will have direct contact with students or the opportunity for direct contact, the District requires the following before services are performed:
-
Contractor Criminal History Review Authorization
-
Fingerprinting (vendor/contractor is responsible for the cost of fingerprinting)
-
Waller ISD contractor identification badge to be worn at all times (Per District’s legal counsel: Vendor/Contractor badges will not be issued to vendors/ contractors who will not have direct contact or opportunity for direct contact with students).
Employees of the vendor/contractor who will not have direct contact with students will follow standard visitor procedures when on campuses.
Elementary Campus Playgrounds
Only school employees and elementary students are allowed on the playground during bus arrival/dismissal time, during school hours, and during the Extended School Day/Year program.
Volunteers
VIPS - Volunteers in Public Schools - must complete a criminal background check. This can be completed by contacting Adela Cornejo at acornejo@wallerisd.net.

Prevention & Reporting Safety Concerns
Students, parents, and anyone else in the school community can anonymously submit any suspicious activity, bullying or other student related issues to a school administrator(s). We encourage you to report important issues. Once you complete the contact form, you will receive confirmation that your information has been submitted to the school district. The reports are anonymous and we will not be able to request more information so please provide as much detail as possible when completing the report.
Report any concerns you may have related to potential threats to the safety and security of any school, student or faculty member in the state of Texas. All school safety reports will be reviewed by local law enforcement, school resource officers, or designated Texas Education personnel. Although not required, providing your contact information will allow follow up questions, and if you prefer to report by telephone, please contact 844-643-2251. The report should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Inclement Weather & School Closings
In the event of closing school due to weather conditions or other emergencies, Waller ISD will utilize the Parent Communication System (to receive these notifications, update your contact information in Skyward Family Access) and post the weather-related information on our school district website (www.wallerisd.net). Local radio and television stations will carry announcements concerning the closing of schools due to weather conditions or other emergencies. Announcements regarding school closings will begin by 6 a.m. on the day in question. The procedures for making the decision to close schools begin early in the morning when school district administrators drive the roads to check road conditions. The school district will not hold school if buses are unable to operate safely. The Superintendent and administrators confer with the weather bureau and emergency management officials about forecasts and road conditions to make the final decision to open or close schools.
Waller ISD may open on a delayed schedule or dismiss early, instead of closing the schools for the day.
Please note that Waller ISD uses multiple communication outlets to share information. Learn more about how to stay connected HERE.

Safety Drills & Emergencies
Each campus will conduct various safety drills throughout the school year. Waller ISD has implemented the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), which is based on the response to any given situation, not on individual scenarios. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - there are five specific actions that can be performed during an incident - Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter in Place. Practicing drills helps us all prepare should we be faced with an emergency situation.
