H.T. Jones Elementary School students collect over $900 for Haiti. Thumbs up to H.T. Jones Elementary students who accumulated their pennies over a five day period and collected $904.68 for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Fifteen homeroom classrooms decorated a coin collection container and had a contest to find out who could raise the most money. Part of the contest fun involved sabotaging other classroom totals by adding silver coins to the classroom collection container. Each silver coin contributed would place a negative coin value on the opposing classrooms coin collection totals. This would quickly lower the other classrooms collection total, but raise the total amount of funds collected for the people of Haiti.
