Our goal in 2nd grade is to develop fluent readers with strong comprehension skills. We acquire this through fiction and nonfiction books with a balanced literacy approach. We assess the children three times a year with the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA). We strive for success and to promote a love of reading.

Each year in math they will learn addition, subtraction, measurement, fractions, time, multiplication, money, division and much more! We use many hands on approaches and lots of technology in our classrooms. In math, your children will learn to use math for everyday situations.

Our curriculum is very science-oriented. We focus on subject areas such as, plants, water cycle, living/nonliving, force and motion, and much more. We also develop a strong sense of social skills with the many books that we read in reading.
